For many JAG participants, their JAG Coordinator and Central Office Staff team may be the few trusted adults in their lives. Trauma-informed care plays a key role in the success of these relationships.

West Point High School’s JAG Vice President Hazel Raymond had a vision for what the first annual Black History Month event for her school would look like, and she was ready to make it a reality.

By his own account, Erick has received plenty of support in the program. He attributes his success to his coordinator, Holly Gorman, who also supported both his brother and sister through JAG.

Art school was all Hazel Raymond had known before enrolling in public school as a freshman at West Point High School. She knew she had wanted to be an artist, but now she was faced with uncertainty about how a traditional education could help her continue on that path.

Once a year, the JAG students at Coronado High School pack up their winter clothes and head up north for a weeklong Leadership Camp at Tonto Creek. The purpose of the camp is to bring participants together for team building, leadership workshops, bonding, and exploring outside of their comfort zone.

The Interviewing Skills Competition is a preliminary event for the annual Career Development Conference (CDC) where employer partners participate as judges as students compete for real-world positions.

The members begin February 2022 and will work on a variety of capacity-building projects throughout their service year.

Before Shanahyah joined JAG, she wasn’t feeling too great about her high school experience or her plans after graduation. In fact, she hadn’t really made connections with her peers and still felt she was living in a different world.

Tolleson’s JAG Works and Teen Council students reconnected over the holiday break with a potluck and Christmas caroling.

On an early morning in December 2021, students listened in and imagined what it was like to be part of one of the first graduating JAG classes while special guest speaker, Bob Burns described what led him to his now, 36 years with General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS).

On December 10th, the Tolleson Union High School JAG class inducted 45 students into the 2021-22 JAG program during the “Initiation and Installation” ceremony. JAG, also known as Jobs for Arizona’s Graduates, has a deep history in Tolleson serving TUHS students since 1981.

The Jobs for Arizona’s Graduates state leaders participated in workshops related to conflict resolution, mastering virtual meetings, and more.

A touching moment in the ceremony was the candle lighting ceremony which symbolizes the students unity to help each other obtain their goals.

This October of 2021, Young Professionals of Discover (YPOD) donated $10,000 to Jobs for Arizona’s Graduates (JAG) programming. This generous donation will be used to support the JAG mission to help young people stay in school and acquire the academic, personal, leadership and vocational skills they need to be successful upon graduation.

Coronado High School of Phoenix, Arizona inducted 33 students into the 2021, 2022 JAG class Wednesday, October 27 during the “Initiation and Installation” ceremony.

Sunrise Mountain High School’s ceremony welcomed 23 seniors into the program for their year of personal, leadership, and professional development.

Paradise Valley High School JAG students host the schools annual spooky event; Haunted Paradise.

Students plan, prepare and host their ceremony as they prepare for academic, college and career success in their JAG programs.
