Jobs for Arizona's Graduates (JAG) is proud to share about two exceptional alumni, Frida Medrano Ibarra and Jenna Flores, who are shining examples of dedication and the transformative power of the JAG program. Both recently concluded a one-year service as national officers for the Jobs for America’s Career Association (JAG CA) representing more than 78,000 students nationwide for the 2023-24 school year.

While Jenna recently concluded her one-year tenure as the national secretary, Frida now transitions from President-elect into the role of President for the current school year, continuing to lead JAG students nationwide. Together, these remarkable individuals show the profound impact of JAG, not only within Arizona but throughout the entire nation.

Frida's journey with JAG began at Copper Canyon High School in the fall of 2023. At first Frida was timid, unsure what she had stepped into but soon realized her leadership skills by serving as her chapter's Career Association President and participated actively in the state's University of Phoenix LEADS program. Encouraged by her LEADS advisor and JAG teacher, Frida embarked on a remarkable journey that led her to be elected by her peers nationally as the President Elect for the 2023-24 school year. Now, she begins her role as the President for the national JAG Career Association, representing more than 79,000 students nationwide, for the school year 2024-25.

In addition to her duties as a national officer, Frida has ventured beyond her home state, speaking at various Career Development Conferences across the nation and inspiring JAG students. From sharing her experiences at the New Mexico Career Development Conference to imparting knowledge at the Michigan Career Development Conference, Frida has left a lasting mark on JAG students nationwide. Her dedication to service and leadership serves as a beacon of inspiration, empowering students to reach their full potential and become leaders in their communities.

Now, as she assumes the role of National President, Frida envisions a future where every JAG student's voice is not only heard but cherished and empowered. As one of the national JAG CA Officers, Frida ensures that the youth voice leads in the work we do at JAG. In her closing speech at the National Career Development Conference last week, Frida emphasized the importance of elevating and innovating, urging JAG members to visualize greater goals and make an impact in their communities. She stated, "Leadership Development…Career Development…Social Awareness…Civic Awareness…Service Learning…as members, we hold these Five Goals of the JAG Career Association in the highest regard as not only elements of our organization but inspirational guides for our daily lives."

Jenna's journey with JAG began at West Point High School, where she served as her JAG programs president and secretary, as well as, a University of Phoenix LEADS member and Arizona's JAG CA state president. With guidance from her JAG teacher and mentors, Jenna rose through the ranks, culminating in her role as the national secretary officer.

Throughout her tenure, Jenna's dedication to leadership and improving her public speaking skills was evident as she spoke at various conferences, inspiring JAG students nationwide. Her travels took her to states like South Dakota and Virginia, where she delivered impactful speeches, inspiring students to pursue their dreams. In her closing speech at the National Career Development Conference, Jenna expressed profound gratitude to her mentors, advisors, and peers who played instrumental roles in shaping her journey. Jenna's words resonated deeply as she shared, "JAG has been a transformative experience for me, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunities it has provided." As she bids farewell to her role as the national secretary, Jenna reminds us of the power of youth voice and the importance of student voice within the JAG community.

Through leadership development and community engagement, JAG empowers students to reach their full potential and be prepared for their future endeavors. In Arizona and throughout the country, JAG continues to empower students, cultivate leaders, and transform lives. Together, let us celebrate the achievements of Frida, Jenna, and all JAG students who embody the spirit of excellence and service.
