What is the National Youth Employment Coalition?
The National Youth Employment Coalition (NYEC) is a youth-employment organization focused on improving the effectiveness of the organizations and systems that support “opportunity youth”. NYEC defines “opportunity youth” as the 4.6 million young people who are out of school and out of work.

NYEC and Jobs for Arizona’s Graduates share this mission, which is why we are proud to partner. Jobs for Arizona’s Graduates mission is to help young people stay in school and to acquire the academic ,personal, and vocational skills they will need to be successful upon graduation. More about this mission and JAG programming can be found here.

What is NYEC’s Action Hour?

This December 1-3, 2021, NYEC is hosting their 2021 Annual Forum: Building the Future Boldly. The Annual Forum is NYEC’s premier national conference on youth and employment, and will feature innovative approaches to employer engagement, best practices for promoting wellness, and host a dialogue about the role of youth employment programs. Young adult leaders, practitioners, policymakers, and stakeholders in the youth field are invited to attend. Youth can register for FREE by emailing nyec@nyec.org. Adults can register here.

For this year’s forum, NYEC is also welcoming proposals from youth aged 16-24 for their Action Hour. Criteria for proposals include ongoing or proposed projects for advancing civic engagement, advocacy, or other projects benefiting your community. A limited number of proposal applicants will be invited to present at the 2021 Annual Forum, with each presenter receiving $500 each. Applicants will also receive feedback and potential support for their projects at the NYEC Action Hour in June. Action Hour applications are DUE next Friday Oct. 29th and takes less than 10 minutes to complete. Apply and learn more here.

How can JAG participants be involved?

The JAG program is unique in that all participants are facilitated through completing community service projects, led by a student-elected, program-specific Career Association of officers. NYEC’s Action Hour would be a great opportunity for JAG participants to bring their project efforts to a greater audience, with a chance for funding and feedback from professionals. The deadline to apply is October 29th, 2021. Find more information and registration here.
