August 13, 2024

Jobs for Arizona’s Graduates (JAG) President & CEO, Marjorie DeRubeis, Business Manager, Ivon Castillo, and Director of Programs, Trinetta Lipsey, proudly represented us at the City of Avondale’s Contributions Award ceremony, held on Wednesday, August 7th, at the Avondale City Hall. The ceremony marked an important occasion where JAG received a significant grant from the City of Avondale, presented by City Council Members and staff, to support our ongoing efforts to increase positive outcomes for Avondale’s high school graduates.

The City of Avondale’s Contributions Assistance Program (CAP) is designed to provide financial support to local organizations making a difference in Avondale residents’ lives. For the 2023-24 program year, JAG was one of the recipients of this grant, which has been instrumental in funding programs at Westview High School, La Joya Community High School, and West Point High School.

The JAG programs in Avondale have demonstrated remarkable success, with impressive graduation, employment, and further education rates across all three schools. This grant from the City of Avondale will ensure that JAG can continue to provide these vital services to students, helping them to achieve their academic and career goals.

“We are honored to receive this grant from the City of Avondale,” said Marjorie DeRubeis, “the support from the Contributions Assistance Program is crucial in helping us continue our mission to empower Arizona’s youth, especially those facing significant socio-economic challenges. We look forward to the continued success of our programs and the positive impact they will have on our students and the community.”

Trinetta Lipsey also highlighted the importance of this partnership, adding, “This grant will allow us ensure students are well-prepared for their futures. The City of Avondale’s commitment to supporting local organizations like JAG is truly commendable, and we are grateful to be a part of this community effort.”

The funds received from this grant will go directly towards continuing to provide JAG’s proven programming, which focuses on academic achievement, career development, and leadership skills for students. We're excited to continue our work in Avondale with the support of this grant, ensuring that more students have access to the support and guidance they need to succeed.
