Jobs for Arizona's Graduates (JAG) proudly announces the recipients of the 2024 Ken Smith Scholars award. This year, four outstanding students have been selected to receive $2,000 scholarships for their post-secondary education for the 2024-25 academic year. The scholarship recipients are:
These exceptional students have demonstrated remarkable dedication, leadership, and academic excellence, earning them the prestigious recognition as Ken Smith Scholars.
The Kenneth M. Smith Scholarship Fund and the Smith Scholars Program were established by the JAG Board to honor Kenneth M. Smith, the President and Chief Executive Officer of JAG, Inc., for his extraordinary leadership and service. Since its inception in 2009, the Kenneth M. Smith Scholarship Fund has awarded 349 scholarships, totaling $541,000, to participants enrolled in Jobs for America’s Graduates (JAG).
The scholarship fund is supported by contributions from JAG Board members and partnering corporations who are committed to investing in the educational development of JAG students. Scholarships are awarded to JAG high school seniors or students in out-of-school programs who are pursuing a post-secondary degree or certificate. Eligible institutions include public or private two-year community colleges, technical colleges, public or private four-year colleges/universities, and apprenticeship or trade schools.
Trinetta Lipsey, the Director of Programs for JAG, expressed her pride in this year's scholarship recipients. "We are incredibly proud of Amaya, Eduardo, Joel, and Kimberly for their hard work and dedication. These scholarships will help them further their education and reach their career goals, and we are honored to support them on their journey."
Marjorie DeRubeis, President & CEO of JAG, also shared her enthusiasm, stating, "The Ken Smith Scholars Program reflects our commitment to empowering young people through education and opportunity. We are grateful to our donors and partners who make these scholarships possible and help our students succeed."
