On Thursday, August 17th, Jobs for Arizona's Graduates (JAG) hosted the annual Celebration of Success Kick Off Event at Coronado High School, and what a remarkable gathering it was! The event served as a momentous occasion to commemorate the accomplishments of the JAG Class of 2022, marking one year after their high school graduation and the conclusion of their Follow Up Services.
Program of the Year Award: Coronado High School
This year, the event held a special significance for Coronado High School, the host of the event, because they won the prestigious Program of the Year Award at the 2023 Career Development Conference. It was a proud moment for Coronado High School JAG students and a testament to the outstanding work of their JAG Coordinator, Wendy Paez Gonzalez.
The Kick Off Event featured an array of guest speakers, including employer partners, alumni, and students. In addition, the event had the honor of hosting Frida Ibarra Medrano, the National Career Association (NCA) President Elect, and recent Copper Canyon High School graduate. On stage, Frida had the opportunity to introduce Arianna Guerra, the state Career Association President and a senior at West Point High School. These remarkable young leaders exemplified the potential within our students and the bright future that lies ahead.
One of the most eagerly awaited moments of the event was the reveal of this year’s theme: "Embrace the Unknown, Explore New Beginnings." This theme encapsulates the spirit of embracing change, overcoming challenges, and unlocking boundless potential.
The event also recognized the dedication of staff and Coordinators through the Years of Service Awards, celebrating milestones ranging from 3 to an astounding 40 years of service. Their unwavering commitment has been instrumental in the success of JAG programs.
The JAG Hall of Fame inductees were honored for their years of dedication, guidance, and support of JAG. Their influence on the organization and the lives they've touched was truly remarkable.
As we reflect on the Celebration of Success Kick Off Event, we are grateful for the incredible JAG community that has united to shape brighter futures. The event was a testament to the resilience, ambition, and limitless potential within our students and educators.
