Meet Frida: JAG Journey from the Classroom to National Leadership

As a high school senior at Copper Canyon High School in the West Valley of Phoenix, Frida joined JAG unsure of what her future held. Like many students, she was looking for a path forward—something that could help her build a future after high school. What she found in JAG was more than a program. She found a community, a support system, and opportunities she never imagined.

When Students Are Given the Opportunity to Lead—They Rise

Through JAG, Frida became a state officer in Arizona’s JAG Career Association and was later elected by her peers as the National President of the JAG Career Association (JAGCA)—representing over 75,000 students across the country. She has traveled the nation as a youth leader, keynote speaker, and student advocate. She’s spoken with corporate partners, community leaders, and elected officials. She’s developed leadership, communication, and workforce readiness skills that will serve her for life.

Her Story in Her Own Words

“I joined JAG my senior year looking for direction after high school. I didn’t know what my next step was—college, work, trade school—I felt lost. But the moment I walked into the JAG classroom, that changed.

I found a space where I wasn’t judged for where I came from or the challenges I faced. My JAG Specialist, Mr. Gearhart, saw something in me I hadn’t seen in myself. He encouraged me to run for office, share my story, and believe I was capable of more.

Since then, I’ve been to Washington D.C., met with state leaders, led national conferences, and found my voice. JAG gave me the confidence, support, and real-world skills to not only graduate, but to lead. I now attend college while serving as the JAG Career Association National President. This program changed the entire course of my life.”
