JAG students from JAG programs across Arizona are participating in Initiation and Installation ceremonies as they officially join the JAG Career Association. JAG students work with their coordinators in order to plan these ceremonies as they select the date, create invitations for friends, family, and community members, select and invite guest speakers, and create a script and program for the event. During the event, students lead the ceremonies and take a pledge to commit to their personal, academic, and career goals as well as represent themselves, their peers, and JAG in a professional manner. Student officers are also officially appointed at these ceremonies.
“The career association provides students with a vehicle to practice the skills they learn in the classroom.” says Dianna Harrier, JAG’s Director of Operations. “Students often refer to the career association as their JAG family; students get to know each other and support one another as they pursue both personal and professional goals.”
Throughout the year, students in the Career Associations will work together in order to put into practice what they learn in their JAG classes. The Career Associations will plan and participate in a variety of events throughout the year including career exploration events, service learning projects, and social and leadership development events. They will also participate in statewide events including Legislative day and the Career Development. For more details about JAG’s upcoming events check out:
