2017 Career Development Conference

On Monday, May 1, 2017 more than 500 people will participate in the Jobs for Arizona’s Graduates 2017 Career Development Conference (CDC) at the Sheraton Crescent Hotel. JAG’s Mission is to help young people to stay in school and to acquire the academic, personal, leadership and vocational skill they will need to be successful upon graduation.
For the past nine months, these young people have been working through Jobs for Arizona’s Graduates (JAG) to achieve academic, personal, leadership, and career skills. These skills will help them secure quality employment, military registration, pursue further education or training immediately after graduation. JAG participants in the 9th through 12th grades from Compadre, Coronado, Gila Bend, Paradise Valley, Peoria, Santa Cruz Valley Union, Sunrise Mountain, Tempe, Tolleson, and Avondale (community based programs) will be presenting their accomplishments and celebrating a successful year.

The Career Development Conference allows JAG to recognize student leadership and achievements and to provide students an opportunity to showcase their skills to potential employers.

The day’s activities will include:

  • Competitive events demonstrating competencies mastered in JAG, such as communication, interviewing, robotics, public speaking, and decision-making skills
  • Team-building, Career Awareness, and Life Readiness Workshops
  • College and Career Expo
  • Motivational Speakers
  • Scholarship and Awards Presentation
  • Announcement of 2017-2018 University of Phoenix Leads
